Biography

Tibbe Alkemade (2006) is a young countertenor from Zeist, the Netherlands. He is currently studying in Basel at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis where he takes singing lessons from Professor Rosa Dominguez. Before starting this study, Tibbe studied at the School for Young Talent in The Hague and sang in the 'Nationale Koren' led by Wilma ten Wolde and Irene Verburg.

At a young age, Tibbe has already gained a lot of experience in opera productions, oratorios and other concerts. Seven boy sopranos from the National Boys Choir, including Tibbe, sang in the opera production 'Aus Licht' by Stockhausen. In addition, Tibbe was one of the four boy soloists in Szenen aus Goethes Faust with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Markus Stenz and later that year with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner. He was also singing during the classical top 400 concert with the radio philharmonic orchestra conducted by Sander Teepen and Tibbe sang as ‘Un piccolo savoiardo’ in Giordano’s Fedora with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti.

He also performed as a soloist for television, in the series ‘Jonge helden’ at Podium Witteman and in the King’s Concert.
